
With Dr. J. Richard McDuffle as Pastor, the first meeting was held at Bill’s Music House on February 14, 1988. The second meeting on February 21, 1988, was also held at the same location. A move was made to the American Legion Hut on “B” Avenue in West Columbia on February 28, 1988. A notice was published in “The State” newspaper on April 21, 1988, stating that a charter for the church would be applied for under the name of West Columbia Baptist Fellowship and that the meeting place would be at 2803 Franklin Street in West Columbia. A move was made to the old Piggly Wiggly store on Sunset Boulevard in West Columbia during May of 1988 and the first service was held at that location on June 31, 1988.
The first W.M.U. meeting was held in February, 1988. The first baptismal service was held at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Lowell C. (Butch) Spires on July 31, 1988. The first Vacation Bible School was held during the same month. The first wedding at the church was held on October 15, 1988.
In February, 1991, the present property was purchased and in July the first Vacation Bible School, under a large tent, was held on the property. Dr. McDuffle resigned to accept another pastorate in Dunn, North Carolina at the end of September, 1991. The move to the present property was made during February, 1992 and the ground breaking took place on May 17, 1992. The first service was held on March 1, 1992, at the new location using portables purchased from Lexington School District #2.
