CHURCH MEMBERSHIP

Membership means active participation. It’s not names on a list so people can say I’m a member at Kittiwake Baptist Church. It’s a collection of people working together to create an experience where people can meet Jesus Christ. We have expectations of our membership and the following is a profile of what each member should look like.

Profile of a church member:

  1. Attained personal salvation through Jesus Christ.

This is the staring point for every believer.

  1. Been baptized as a believer through the process of immersion.
See the link on “What we believe about baptism.”

  1. Is involved in our worship services as an opportunity to connect with God.

We believe that God instructed the first connection of a believers life is to be with Him.

We seek to create a worship experience that will enable our members to do that.

  1. Is involved in a small group with the purpose of connecting with the people of God.

Success at Kittiwake is defined by how effectively our ministries move people from

our worship services into small groups. At Kittiwake, the small group is the best place

for sustained life change to occur. In a small group, people study God’s Word together

and discuss the issues and challenges of life. It’s also where they pray, care for one

another, and are missed if they don’t show up. Practically speaking, there will never be

a way for the staff or deacons to personally minister to everyone who attends our

church. That’s why we place such a high premium on small groups. It’s how we minister

   effectively at Kittiwake.

  1. Is involved in at least one ministry so as to utilize the gift God has given.

According to the Bible every believer has been granted at least one spiritual gift.

God expects every believer to use this gift for the building up of His body, the local

church. We want to make it possible for every member to discover their spiritual gifts

and then connect them with a ministry in which that gift can be utilized.

  1. Is involved in lifestyle evangelism in which they become a missionary to the people

     God has connected to them.

Not every believer has the gift of evangelism, but we are all called to be a witness.

God has strategically placed every member in a position where they are called to

shine His light. We seek to equip each member with the tools necessary to

     accomplish this task.

  1. Is a faithful steward of what God has blessed them with.
